MagSert Shower

You clean the showerhead, and days later the chalky film is back on the nozzles. That's hard water — not your scrubbing — and a whole-house softener is a plumbing project most people can't take on.

MagSert® S-640 is the install-free answer: a small insert that drops inside your showerhead neck and conditions the water before it sprays out, so new mineral scale is far less likely to harden onto the nozzles and tile. It's designed to encourage dissolved minerals to form softer crystals that rinse away instead of cementing on — and any buildup that does form tends to be softer, so it wipes off more easily. Give it a few weeks and watch the difference.

What it is — and isn't: MagSert® conditions water. It is not a softener or filter, and it doesn't remove minerals, chlorine, or contaminants — the minerals stay in, MagSert® just changes how they behave. Results build over weeks and vary with your local water, and are more dramatic in harder water.

Installation: Unscrew the showerhead by hand, drop the MagSert® S-640 into the shower neck, and screw the head back on. No tools, no plumber, no landlord approval — and it comes right back out when you move.

Sizing — measure, don't guess: Your shower neck needs an inside diameter of at least 5/8". Some necks have an inward lip that shrinks the opening — that lip can be lightly filed or reamed for a perfect fit. Thread sizes have changed over the years, so measure the inside diameter rather than going by brand.
